A two-year-old Winnipeg boy drowned Sunday in a swimming pool in Landmark, Manitoba

RCMP say the child was found face down in an above ground backyard pool during a family gathering. The pool is accessed by a ladder.

Efforts to resuscitate the child were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the St. Anne Hospital.

RCMP are ruling the death accidental, but continue to investigate.

The name of the child is not being released.
