Construction work on the exterior of City Hall begins today, as renovations are set to take place outside the King Street entrance, the Main Street entrance, and Courtyard.
The renovations at 510 Main Street will improve public accessibility.
One of the two entrances to the Courtyard will be fully accessible throughout the renovations, which are expected to last until mid-October.
The James Street entrance at the northwest corner of the Administration Building will not be affected during renos.
Anticipated closure dates for the King and Main Street entrances to the City Hall Courtyard:
- King Street Entrance (loading zone, stairs, and ramp): under renovation from Thursday, July 22, 2010, to the beginning of September, 2010.
— Deliveries to the Administration Building should be brought through the James Street doors during this period.
— The Bus Stop on King Street, just north of William Avenue, will be relocated for this phase of the renovation.
- Main Street Entrance (stairs and ramp): under renovation from the beginning of September, 2010, until mid-October 2010.
The King Street entrance will be reopened when work on the Main Street Entrance begins. One of the Courtyard entrances will always be accessible during the renovations.
