10th Annual Gimli Film Festival Begins Today

July 21, 2010 7:30 AM | Entertainment

A free beach screening of “We’re the Weakerthans, We’re From Winnipeg” will kick off the 10th annual Gimli Film Festival tonight.

The five-day festival runs from July 21 to 25 and will open with a film that follows the beloved Winnipeg rock band as they embark on their biggest Canadian tour ever.

Produced by Winnipeg’s FarPoint Films, the film will be shown on a 35-foot screen on the beach beginning at 10 p.m.

The Weakerthans’ film is a change to the printed schedule that reads “Crackie” as the free beach screening. Sherry White’s feature length directorial debut feature will premiere at the GFF on Thursday, July 22 at the Waterfront Centre.

Don’t forget your beach chair and blanket.

After the screening, perhaps you’ll be in the mood to hit up some after parties. Celebrity status not needed.

More information on the festival and a complete list of films being shown is available at GimliFilm.com.
