Additional funding by the City of Winnipeg has made it possible for kids to enjoy pools and spray pads longer this year.
The city has committed $127,957 to uninterrupted access to the summer pastime all the way up to and including Monday, September 6 for outdoor pools, and until September 26 for spray pads.
The existing departmental policy provides for the season to end on August 31, 2010.
Some wading pools will remain open until September 3, and 15 wading pools will remain open up to and including September 6.
The program extension will result in the five spray pads remaining open up to and including September 26.
Five outdoor pools will remain open until September 3, and four outdoor pools will stay open up to and including Monday September 6.
