If the recent World Cup didn’t satisfy your soccer needs, Winnipeg is hosting the African Cup of Manitoba (ACM) this summer.
The annual soccer tournament brings together young African immigrants from Manitoba with the power of sport. Countries represented in the teams are Somalia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Ghana, Nigeria, Eritrea and Kenya.
Soccer is the most watched and played sport in the entire world and as such, its number of enthusiasts in Manitoba is increasing.
The tournament’s final game will go Saturday, September 4 at Whittier Park beginning at 3 p.m.
Since 2003, the competition has been held each year during the summer from July until September. Each year the number of participants grows, and that’s something local soccer fans are thrilled to see.
