The Winnipeg Goldeyes are doing their part today to support children’s literary in the city.
The team has partnered up with the Winnipeg Public Library to read to children and support the library’s TD Summer Reading Club.
Goldeyes players will visit nine branches across the city to share the fun and importance of reading with young readers.
Players will not only read stories, but also answer questions and sign autographs.
The team will also continue their community involvement tomorrow for a second day of reading to Winnipeg youth.
The readings will be followed by the annual Library Night at Canwest Park on Tuesday at 7 p.m. when the Goldeyes play the Gary SouthShore RailCats. Attending the game will be 20 young readers and their families who won tickets through their participation in the reading club.
The first 4,000 fans will receive baseball bookmarks.
