The outside of the Red Road Lodge at 631 Main Street is getting a fresh makeover.

Workers from Studio 631 are working on their downtown transformation project, which will give the alcohol and drug-free rooming house a revitalized look once complete.

The former location of the New Occidental Hotel — notorious for being the scene of crime in the area — celebrated its fifth anniversary last year and has helped project a more positive vibe in the community.

The theme of the visual transformation is an aquatic setting made from colourful mosaic tiles.
