Former Winnipeg radio host Larry Updike is going back to the profession he knows best — radio.
CBC announced Thursday morning that Updike will be joining CBC Radio One 89.3 FM effective September 7. Updike will act as the new host of “Up to Speed.”
Since leaving CJOB last summer, Updike has acted as the senior spokesperson for Siloam Mission.
“I am very excited to be part of the CBC family,” Updike said in a news release. “I feel I’m on the verge of a whole new adventure. I’ve always had a deep respect for CBC Radio — both at a network and Manitoba level — and I can’t wait to get started in this exciting journey.”
“I’m very excited to have a programmer with his skill, experience and reputation at CBC Manitoba,” said managing director John Bertrand.
“Up to Speed” airs weekdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
