Blue Bombers quarterback Buck Pierce didn’t announce his retirement on Wednesday — as some disgruntled fans were hoping for — but he did address the unfortunate elbow injury he suffered last Sunday.
Watch:
“I’ll be a stronger person when I come out of this,” Pierce said during a morning news conference.
The 28-year-old import stayed overnight in Regina following the Labour Day Classic, where doctors were able to reconnect his elbow. Many have speculated his season may be over with the Bombers, but Pierce didn’t allude to that and remains positive on his future with the team. “I’m still looking at the Grey Cup date,” he said, as he showed off the brace on his right arm.
QB Steven Jyles will get the start when the Bombers host the Roughriders this Sunday in the Banjo Bowl. As of 10 a.m. this morning, tickets were sold out for the popular annual matchup.
