Students returning to class Thursday at the University of Manitoba were surprised to find a popular hangout had shut down.
Wise Guys on Campus — known for hosting numerous social events and being a destination for students to unwind — posted a closed notice on its doors after its lease wasn’t renewed.
The establishment located in University Centre was also a venue for live bands and the site of fundraising events.
University officials say they will consult with student groups to come up with an idea to fill the space, which Wise Guys held for nearly 15 years.
No one from the bar was available for comment.
