September 14, 2010 6:25 AM | Entertainment

Admiralty Inlet floe edge meets Lancaster Sound.

A professor from Australian National University is sharing his insights on how economic theory can help politicians tackle problems like global climate change at a lecture on Wednesday night.

Professor Geoffrey Brennan will deliver his Knight Lecture titled, “Why Global Warming Might Just Be a Solvable Problem — But Don’t Count on It!” at 8 p.m. at the University of Manitoba.

The Knight Lecture is part of the Robert and Elizabeth Knight Distinguished Visiting Lecturer program and is intended to enhance and enrich Winnipeg’s and the University of Manitoba’s academic life and discourse on a variety of topics.

The lecture will tell how civilizations have developed the technological means to solve many problems, most recently global climate change, but politics may hinder the implementation of such solutions.

The free lecture is open to the public in the Robert B. Schultz lecture theatre at St. John’s College, located at 92 Dysart Road on the Fort Garry campus.
