In order to keep with her plan to bring more transparency to City Hall, mayoral candidate Judy Wasylycia-Leis wants to hold town hall meetings in the community if elected.

The meetings would discuss with residents the city’s pre-budgeting process.

“This is a small but important change to increase transparency and restore fiscal prudence at City Hall,” Wasylycia-Leis said. “Recent budgeting practices, like pinning hopes on winning lawsuits to make the books look balanced, have only created a credibility gap that we must work to close.”

The former NDP NP would make sure all city councillor’s voices are heard during the pre-budgeting process to ensure that the priorities of their communities were reflected in the budget.

Wasylycia-Leis also called on Mayor Sam Katz again to reveal where he stands on ending the property tax freeze.
