If you notice firefighters wearing pink T-shirts starting Friday, they haven’t lost their masculinity, but are supporting a worthwhile cause.

In light of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Winnipeg firefighters will be wearing specially designed pink T-shirts during the month of October. The shirts will be visible during emergency fire, rescue and medical calls to show support for the brave women who have been diagnosed and are living with breast cancer.

The T-shirts will also be available to the public at any city fire hall, with all proceeds going to CancerCare Manitoba’s Breast Cancer Centre of Hope.

The United Fire Fighters of Winnipeg will officially launch the campaign at 11 a.m. today.
