University of Manitoba students have set a new Western Canadian record for most money raised in last month’s Shine Day event in support of Shinerama.
Students brought in $47,314.11, shattering the old record set by the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in 2002 with $46,295.
An 18-person Shinerama Committee made up of students from the I.H Asper School of Business raised over $15,000 on Shine Day alone.
The University of Manitoba also broke the provincial record in 2009 when it raised $35,000 for the cause.
The university-based fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis celebrated its 46th anniversary this year.
