Two people are in hospital after a two-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway Saturday morning.
An eastbound semi-trailer truck and a semi heading northbound collided at the controlled intersection of Highway 1 and Highway 248 at Elie at approximately 8:30 a.m.
RCMP report one person from each of the vehicles was taken to hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
Emergency personnel who attended contained a small fuel spill, but there were no hazardous materials involved.
Police closed the eastbound lanes of the highway for several hours to clear debris. Traffic was rerouted around the crash site.
No names or ages have been released.
