The National Women’s Volleyball Team is wrapping up its battle against the world powerhouse Cuba today and tomorrow in Winnipeg.
The three-game Super-Series matches began Tuesday at the University of Manitoba’s Investors Group Athletic Centre.
The Super-Series offers local fans a rare opportunity to see Team Canada’s top line up face internationally top-ranked Cuba. Both the Canadian (ranked 24th in the world) and Cuban (ranked 6th) National teams are showing off their A-Squads as the Super-Series will be acting as part of their preparations and lead up to the World Championships taking place October 29 to November 14 in Japan.
The final two matches are scheduled to take place tonight and Friday, October 8 at the University of Manitoba’s Investors Group Athletic Centre. Tickets are available for $10 at TicketWeb.ca or through the Team Canada Volleyball Centre at (204) 474-7227.
Cuba defeated Canada Tuesday afternoon 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-21).
The second feature match tonight will take place at 7:30 p.m., and also act as ‘Teams Night’ where discounted tickets and numerous prizes including Volleyballs, Travel Bags and equipment will be up for grabs for all volleyball teams in attendance.
The final Match of the Series will take place Friday at 7:30 p.m. and is open to everyone.
