Advance voting in the 2010 civic election opens today at several shopping centres across Winnipeg. Election officials are hoping that by making polling stations more accessible in various locations, voter turnout will be higher than in previous years.

Early voting will be held at the Garden City Shopping Centre from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, and at five other shopping centres until Sunday, October 17.

  • St. Vital Shopping Centre (near Sears) — Sunday, October 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, October 10 from noon to 6 p.m.
  • Grant Park Shopping Centre (near Safeway) — Sunday, October 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, October 10 from noon to 6 p.m.
  • Portage Place Shopping Centre (Centre Court) — Friday, October 15 from noon to 6 p.m.
  • Polo Park Shopping Centre (near The Bay) — Saturday, October 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, October 17 from noon to 6 p.m.
