RCMP Hand Out Dozens of Tickets in ‘Operation Impact’

October 13, 2010 11:04 AM | News

Manitoba RCMP were busy over the Thanksgiving long weekend, handing out numerous tickets to motorists as part of Operation Impact.

The campaign to make the province’s roads safer resulted in 24 people being charged with impaired driving, 20 licence suspensions, 59 tickets for not wearing a seat belt and 415 tickets for aggressive driving.

There were no fatalities during the safety blitz, which ran from October 8 to 11, but an accident last Friday just prior to the campaign kickoff claimed five lives.
