U of M Bisons Shooting for a Breast Cancer Cure

A charitable initiative this week at the University of Manitoba will help support the fight against breast cancer.

The Bison women’s basketball team is hosting the “Shoot for the Cure” invitational starting Thursday.

The non-conference tournament will raise awareness and support for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation with all proceeds going towards the cause.

The first game will be held at Fort Richmond Collegiate on Thursday when the Senior Women’s All-Stars face the Bisons at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, Regina will face the All-Stars at 6 p.m., and at 8 p.m. the Bisons will take on Concordia.

The big event is Saturday during the ‘Pack the Place Pink Night,’ where the Bisons will face Regina at 6 p.m., followed by an All-Stars/Concordia bout at 8 p.m. All fans in attendance are encouraged to wear pink. Special pink T-shirts will also be available to be purchased for $10.

The final game of the tournament will go Sunday, October 17, when Concordia faces Regina at 11 a.m.

All games except for Thursday night are at the Investors Group Athletic Centre on the U of M’s Fort Garry campus.

Daily admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.
