Who says there’s no such thing as free parking downtown? Well, at least for one day there was.
The new Bedford Parkade & Retail at 100 King Street officially opened for business on Friday.
The $7 million parking structure developed by Bedford Investments, with funding from both the city and CentreVenture, can house 159 vehicles and includes lower level retail space. The names of the tenants to occupy the lower level will be revealed at a later date.
A ribbon cutting ceremony took place with Mayor Sam Katz and other dignitaries to mark the opening.
Vehicle owners had the luxury of parking free between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. today only.
