It’s do or die this weekend for the Manitoba Bisons football team as they head into Alberta for the last of two more games in the regular season.
The Bisons will face the Golden Bears in Edmonton on Saturday and are desperately seeking a playoff spot after a shaky start to the season.
Manitoba sits at 1-5 and is on a three-game losing streak, with only one win under their belt against UBC back on September 18. The Golden Bears are looking to clinch the fourth and final playoff spot and are tied with UBC despite a four-game losing streak of their own.
Head coach Brian Dobie says the Bisons have had trouble keeping pace with the other teams this season and contributes the setback to not training with pads on — something the younger players don’t have experience with. Dobie admits his men should have had pads on all season during practice, and is making up for it now by implementing the change on the field.
Game time on Saturday is at 2 p.m. CT on Shaw TV with the pre-game beginning at 1:45 p.m. on 101.5 UMFM.
