The United Way is well on their way to reach their 2010 fundraising goal of $18.8 million this year after being only midway through their campaign.
To date, Winnipeggers have helped raise more than $11.4 million or 61% of the goal for the organization.
The 2010 campaign officially kicked off in September, where the lofty goal was first announced.
“We’ve had a strong start,” said campaign chair Gregg Hanson. “But it’s a strong finish that counts,” he added, underlining the importance of building on the early momentum over the next few weeks.
“You have to get up pretty early in the morning to keep up with the dedication and generosity of Winnipeg’s labour community.”
Part of the money raised will go to the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba, which provides families the financial independence through asset building initiatives.
