The University of Winnipeg is creating a new bursary program to benefit 10 African students by helping them get an education.

Each bursary is valued at $2,000 and was created by a private donation. They will be awarded to students who show academic promise with a demonstrated financial need.

The African Communities of Manitoba, Inc. will sustain the program over the coming years through fundraising efforts.

“Some of our students arrive in Manitoba as refugees from war torn countries, facing real financial constraints,” said Dr. Kwabena Osei-Bonsu, chair of the ACOMI Education and Youth Committee. “This new bursary will really help these hard working students to complete their studies.”
