The mental health of children will be the topic of discussion during the Open Minds Across Canada Mental Health Symposia 2010 at the University of Manitoba on Thursday.

Healthy Minds Canada (HMC) and its national research partners are hosting the event, which works to answer such questions as: Are watching TV, playing video games and being on the computer related to your child’s mental health?; What is the relationship of being in care of child and family services and children’s mental health?; and how to improve the mental health of new mothers.

The public will be able to hear the answers to those questions during a free event Thursday night hosted by the U of M. The symposium will be held in the Robert B. Schultz Lecture Theatre in St. John’s College, 92 Dysart Road, on the university’s Fort Garry campus. Registration begins at 7 p.m. and the event runs from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
