The Manitoba Bison men’s hockey team will host their rivals from Regina in a two-game series this weekend at the Max Bell Arena.

The Bisons are currently battling Alberta for a second place spot in Canada West, but will have to inch ahead of Regina if they hope to move closer to the coveted position.

The Bisons started the season off with a 5-2 loss to Regina on October 8, but then bounced back on October 9 with a 7-0 win at home. Since then, the Brown and Gold have gained five of a potential eight points on the road with a 2-0 win at Saskatchewan on October 23, a point during a 4-3 (OTL) at Saskatchewan on October 24 and 5-2 win at Lethbridge on October 30.

Eight conference regular season games remain on the first half of the Bisons’ schedule, and the team is looking to make the best of it. Face off against the Regina Cougars is 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night.

Next door at the Investors Group Athletic, the Bison men and women’s volleyball teams will also be going up against Regina on Friday and Saturday. Game time is 6 p.m. for the women and 8 p.m. for the men.
