A 54-year-old woman died Tuesday afternoon after a crash south of Winnipeg that sent four others to hospital.
The accident at the intersection of Highway 23 and Provincial Road 200 happened at about 3:15 p.m. when the woman’s 2008 Chevrolet Impala travelling northbound collided with a 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche travelling eastbound. The four occupants in the Avalanche — two men and two woman — were sent to hospital to be treated for injuries.
Speed and alcohol are not being considered factors in the crash, which blocked traffic east of Morris for several hours.
RCMP say road conditions at the time were in good condition. The intersection in question is controlled by stop signs.
UPDATED: Wednesday, November 10 — The deceased woman has been identified as Marj Heinrichs of Rosenort, Manitoba. Heinrichs was a writer, photographer and reporter at CFAM Radio 950 in Altona.
