Winnipeg Transit Fares Going Up January 1

The cost to ride public transit across the city will increase in the new year.

Effective January 1, 2011, new Winnipeg Transit fares will be in place, with price reductions maintained for students and seniors.

Most fares will increase by approximately five cents per trip, and be $2.40 for a regular fare.

Tickets will also increase to $2.10 and a weekday pass will increase to $18.60 from $18.25. The price of a SuperPass will go up from $20.50 to $21 and a monthly pass to $74 from $75.35.

The new fare for students and seniors will be $1.90.
