Bisons Host Alberta, Brandon in Busy Weekend Matchups

November 24, 2010 6:52 AM | Sports

The Manitoba Bison men’s hockey team will have their hands full this weekend as they host the Alberta Golden Bears, currently ranked #1 in the conference.

The Bisons are halfway through their season and sit in second place, but believe what they’ve accomplished so far this year will be proven on Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, the men’s basketball team sits in third place and will work to improve that ranking by fending off the Brandon Bobcats this weekend at the Investors Group Athletic Centre.

Watch:

Bison basketball currently holds a 5-2 record and has won two of three homes games so far this season.

Back on the hockey front, the Bisons are supporting Movember to benefit prostate cancer research by selling mustache buttons. Proceeds from the sale of the buttons, along with half of the 50/50 draw winnings, will be donated to the cause.

The hockey team takes to the ice Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at Max Bell Arena, while the basketball team begins at 8 p.m.
