The City of Winnipeg is asking for public input from residents, businesses, community groups and associations on its 2011 Capital Budget.

Two roundtable discussions are planned to look at how the city should development next year’s budget, including where to allocate infrastructure costs.

Last year’s capital budget approved $439 million in new capital projects for 2010 and projected that the city’s investment in its capital assets and infrastructure for 2010 to 2015 would be over $2 billion.

Councillor Scott Fielding, who is also the Chair of City Council’s Standing Policy Committee on Finance, will host the consultation sessions.

The first session will be held on Monday, December 6 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Sturgeon Heights Community Centre at 210 Rita Street. The second session will take place on Thursday, December 9 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Room 5 on the main floor of the Winnipeg Convention Centre.

Walk-ins are welcome, but pre-registration is appreciated by e-mailing budget@winnipeg.ca or by calling (204) 986-4242.

Public consultations on the Operating Budget will be held in January 2011.
