NDP leader Jack Layton is making one last stop in Winnipeg today to bolster support for Winnipeg North candidate Kevin Chief.
Chief is running in the area’s by-election against Liberal candidate Kevin Lamoureux and Conservative Julie Javier.
All three candidates have received backings from their federal leaders in recent months, with Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff making numerous visits to the city, and Prime Minister Stephen Harper rallying support for Javier at an event in September.
Layton and Chief will attend LITE (Local Investment Toward Employment)’s annual Wild Blueberry Pancake Breakfast at the Indian & Metis Friendship Centre beginning at 9 a.m., followed by doing a number of media interviews.
The vacant seat in Winnipeg North was left by Judy Wasylycia-Leis, who resigned last spring to take a run at becoming Winnipeg’s mayor.
Voters head to the polls on Monday, November 29.
