Sunday’s Grey Cup wasn’t the only rematch on the sports circuit. Two Winnipeg high schools will look to take home the 2010 “AAAA” Boston Pizza High School Volleyball Championship tonight.
The defending boys’ champions, the Mennonite Brethren Hawks, head into the finals ranked second, after fending off the Lord Selkirk Royals in the semi-finals last Thursday.
The Hawks meet the Dakota Lancers, who in an upset last year, just couldn’t clinch the deal with the Hawks.
The Lancers are ranked first going in and already have a championship win to their name from 2004. Meanwhile, the Hawks are no stranger to wins, having five championships under their belt dating back to 1996.
The boys final begins at 8 p.m.
On the girls side, the Lord Selkirk Royals will meet the River East Kodiaks at 6 p.m.
Both games are at the Investors Group Athletic Centre and will be broadcast live on Shaw TV. Admission is $7 per person.
