A house fire in Lynn Lake has killed a 20-month-old infant boy.
RCMP say the blaze broke out on Monday just before 6 p.m., completely destroying the home.
The family was able to escape, but a baby was still in the home and couldn’t be located. An RCMP officer and community member entered the burning home through a basement window to find the baby, but were turned back by heat and burning debris.
The infant was later located inside the burnt out home.
An autopsy is scheduled to take place in Winnipeg.
No damage estimate is available, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
