A two-vehicle collision early Saturday morning has left a 17-year-old Selkirk boy in critical condition.

The crash happened at about 1 a.m. on Highway 9 in the RM of West St. Paul south of the Rivercrest Hotel. RCMP say the teen driver of a Honda Civic was travelling southbound when he collided with a northbound Chevrolet Tahoe on a curve.

The teen was the lone occupant in the Civic and needed to be extricated from the vehicle. He was conveyed to hospital in critical condition.

The 61-year-old man driving the Tahoe received medical treatment, but did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol is not considered a factor in the collision and road conditions were reported to be fair.

The investigation continues.
