A recent survey suggests Canadians are much more satisfied with receiving cash for Christmas over other gifts.
PayPal Canada — an online payment processing service — commissioned Ipsos Reid to conduct the survey, which found 55% of Canadians want money over a thoughtful gift.
The results are up seven points since 2009, and reveal only 15 percent of Canadians would be offended if offered money in place of a gift.
“Sending money can be the perfect solution for family and friends who live out of town, for those who prefer the flexibility of cash and for last-minute presents,” said Nicky Mezo, head of marketing for PayPal Canada.
In another study released this week, Angus Reid found 71 percent of Canadians will be hosting events at home this year, revealing 77 percent of hosts plan on serving alcoholic drinks at their holiday gatherings.
