A fire Monday night in the Village of Dunnottar, Manitoba completely gutted a home and killed two pets.

Fire crews could not save the structure when called to the scene at about 11 p.m.

No one was home at the time, but a cat and a dog unfortunately perished in the blaze.

An official cause for the fire hasn’t yet been determined, but RCMP say it appears to be accidental. A damage estimate isn’t yet available.

The Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner continues to investigate.

The shoreline Lake Winnipeg community of Dunnottar is located about 75 km north of Winnipeg.
