A new book examining the life of George Richardson, former president and CEO of James Richardson & Sons, Limited, will be launched at a special event at the Western Canada Aviation Museum on Thursday.

Local author Tim Higgins has just published the book surrounding the patriarch of the powerful Richardson family of Winnipeg. Entitled Just Common Sense: The Life and Times of George Taylor Richardson, the richly illustrated book will be launched from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the museum’s lobby.

Richardson served as the company’s head honcho for nearly three decades, investing in aviation, agriculture, food processing, financial services, oil and gas exploration and property management. The company is one of the oldest privately owned in Canada.

Higgins was given unprecedented access to the company’s corporate archives, and recorded hours of interviews with Richardson family members, including George himself.

Higgins will do a public reading and refreshments will be served.

The book retails for $24.95 for a paperback and $29.95 for a hardcover.
