Facebook status updates can tell a lot about a person, and even more so about a country.

Facebook Canada has rounded up its top status updates of 2010, and besides the devastation in Haiti, cancer was another top trend. The disease effects millions of Canadians and their families each year, and Facebook was one of the sites where cancer awareness and fundraising campaigns were organized during 2010. The Telus ‘Go Pink’ campaign ended up attracting 500,000 fans to raise support for the cause.

Fifteen million Canadians showed their patronage during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games by updating their statuses with Olympic-like words. One of the game’s top sports wasn’t far behind, as hockey placed fifth.

And of course, the Internet can’t seem to shake Bieber fever, as Canadian pop star Justin Bieber held on to the last spot to come in at number 10. He likely ranks higher on Twitter’s yearly roundup.
