If your New Year’s resolution is to get active, FortWhyte Alive will help you with that goal today with plenty of activities for the entire family.

A 100-kilometre trek will challenge your endurance with snowshoeing, skiing and walking along the FortWhyte trails. The first three people to reach 100 kilometres beginning today will win active gear.

In preparation for the Saturday Morning Snowshoe Club, a knowledgable guide will take newcomers through the basics of snowshoeing and on a hike around the forest trails.

The hike takes place from 1-2 p.m. and is free with general admission.

FortWhyte Alive will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call (204) 989-8355.

If being outdoors in these frigid temperates isn’t for you, don’t forget about the New Year’s levee at the Manitoba legislature, hosted by Lt.-Gov. Philip Lee.

The City of Winnipeg is also keeping you busy, with several tobogganing hills operating around the city — not to mention a handful of skating rinks and cross-country ski trails.
