Students on their way to school Thursday were faced with a bit of a scare when the bus driver was allegedly spotted in possession of a handgun.

RCMP say the incident happened on a Frontier School Division bus en route to Rorketon School in Rorketon, Manitoba.

The students were dropped off at school as usual, and reported the sighting to school officials, who contacted police.

A 52-year-old man from the RM of Lawrence was arrested at his home and faces numerous charges. Police seized a number of firearms at the time of the arrest.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Dauphin court on February 22.

There were no injuries related to the incident.
