Entries for this year’s Chinatown Banner Competition are now being accepted to celebrate the Chinese Year of the Rabbit.
The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ holds the competition annually and will display the winning banner design on downtown streets beginning on February 3, Chinese New Year.
Manitoba artists in the graphic design, writing, illustration, photography, architecture and sketching fields are encouraged to submit their designs. This year’s winner will be announced in February and awarded an $800 honorarium for their efforts.
Banners will be judged by members of the Chinatown Banner Competition Jury, made up of members of the Downtown BIZ as well as the Chinese community, based on criteria such as artistic merit, readability, cross-seasonal impact, and the extent to which the Year of the Rabbit theme is used in the design.
All submissions must be received by the Downtown BIZ by Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. Visit DowntownWinnipegBIZ.com for rules and further details.
