Citytv Winnipeg Trims Staff Once Again

January 11, 2011 3:20 PM | News

Another round of layoffs at Citytv occurred Tuesday, leaving five people unemployed.

We’ve learned two shooters, one editor and two writers were the unlucky ones at the Rogers-owned television station.

The layoffs are a bit puzzling, considering they come less than a year from when Citytv advertised job postings for a photojournalist, editor and news writer.

The last round of dismissals — at least to our knowledge — was in September 2009 when the station let go a batch of producers and editors.

Veronica Logue, a spokesperson for Rogers Media Television, said the company does not comment on staffing or personnel issues.

UPDATE: Thanks to a keen-eyed Twitter follower (@jillfer) for pointing this out, but it appears Citytv is consolidating the positions of videographer, producer and editor into one job. The station posted on Workopolis today looking to hire someone to do all three tasks.
