Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting of Teen Girl Near Roblin

January 11, 2011 10:36 AM | News

RCMP arrested an 18-year-old man on Monday in connection with the fatal shooting of a teen girl near Roblin late last year.

Meagen Mancheese, 16, was shot in a rural home east of the community on November 10.

The suspect suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was rushed to a Winnipeg hospital.

Reports suggested the incident was a failed murder-suicide attempt.

The gunman, who was 17 at the time, is facing a first-degree murder charge in relation to the homicide. Because he was underage when the incident took place, police aren’t releasing his name — only saying he is from the Roblin area.
