City to Begin Plowing Main Routes After Snowfall

The recent snowfall has forced the city to bust out its snow plows and begin clearing routes, commencing at 8 p.m. tonight.

Winnipeg received about five centimetres of snow overnight and today, and it continues to fall.

Sanding of streets will occur around the clock as required.

The city is monitoring conditions on bus routes, collector streets, residential streets, sidewalks and back lanes to see if further plowing will be needed.

This latest cleanup will use about 130 pieces of equipment and cost an estimated $350,000.
