Manitoba RCMP have charged 13 people in connection with an illegal lottery scheme, most commonly known as a pyramid scheme.
Police began their investigation after receiving complaints about “Business in Motion” in and around the Steinbach area. The charges laid relate to activities that occurred between spring 2008 and fall 2009.
Few details about the fraud were released, but the individuals charged are from Manitoba, Ontario and B.C. and range in age from 38- to 59-years-old.
Charged are four men and nine women. They were scheduled to appear in Steinbach court today.
