Creativity through writing will come to the surface Saturday, January 29 as the Winnipeg Art Gallery hosts the Write to Art: Creative Writing and the Visual Arts Workshop.

Acclaimed writers Debbie Schnitzer and Marjorie Anderson will oversee the workshop, which runs from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Responding to the work of Colombian artist Fernando Botero in the exhibition “The Baroque World of Fernando Botero,” participants will engage new creative and interpretive strategies and go beyond simply looking.

“This workshop will encourage participants to examine how they look at, understand and interpret the visual arts by giving them space to explore their own creativity,” said WAG Art Educator Anna Wiebe. “Art gallery programming often takes a hands-off approach when it comes to interpretation. This workshop is an attempt to see what happens when we bring ‘doing’ back into the equation.”

Registration is $25 for WAG members and $30 for the public. To register, call (204) 789-0516 by January 22.
