A two-vehicle accident on Highway 9 at Donald Road Sunday afternoon has killed one person.
RCMP say a Ford Explorer heading northbound on Highway 9 collided with a southbound Pontiac at about 2:30 p.m.
Two adults in the Explorer were taken to hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. A woman and male youth from the Pontiac were also taken to hospital in the same condition.
However, another woman from the Pontiac was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Witnesses reported highway conditions at the time to be extremely icy with blowing snow.
No names have been released.
RCMP are expected to provide further details on Monday.
UPDATE: Monday, January 17 — The deceased has been identified as a 71-year-old woman from the RM of St. Clements. The two other occupants of the Pontiac Wave, a 46-year-old woman and 12-year-old boy, were also from St. Clements. The Ford Explorer was carrying a 63-year-old man and 53-year-old woman, both from Winnipeg. Alcohol is not considered a factor in the crash.
