A game of sledge hockey will raise money and support for the Manitobans with Disabilities (SMD) Foundation and Easter Seals Manitoba on Saturday, January 22.

The Canadian National Men’s Sledge Hockey Team will be in Winnipeg to compete against the SMD Sledge Hockey Team at MTS Iceplex.

The sport has since become a full medal event at the Paralympic Winter Games, in which Canada has participated in since the beginning. In 2004, sledge hockey came under the umbrella of Hockey Canada.

Admission to the game, set for 5 p.m. on the Assiniboine Credit Union rink, is free, but donations are encouraged.

Over 170,000 children, youth and adults in six Manitobans have a disability.
