The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have added Tim Burke to their coaching staff as a defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach. Burke was rumoured to be the club’s choice for several days in circulating media reports, but the team made it official on Tuesday.

Burke spent the past three seasons with the Montreal Alouettes in the same position, winning two Grey Cup championships.

The Blue Bombers also announced defensive line coach Richard Harris (left) will add the title of assistant head coach to his duties for the upcoming season.

Harris has been with the Bombers since 2006 and is the longest standing member of the club’s coaching staff.

“Not only is Coach Harris a great football coach, he’s an even better man. He’s very well respected by his players, as well as in the community,” head coach Paul LaPolice said in a statement.
