Festival du Voyageur (CHRISD.CA)

Hé Ho! Festival du Voyageur begins less than a month from today and preparations are nearing completion as staff work to ensure the annual festival goes off without a hitch.

Several special events are planned this year, including a unique unplugged concert on Sunday, February 20 featuring Winnipeg’s own Nadia Gaudet and Juno nominee Yann Perreau at the Voyageur Trading Post (Centre Culturel Franco-Manitobain). Tickets will be available for $20 at the Festival office starting January 24.

Registrations are also still being accepted for various contests held during the festival. The Fiddling and Jigging Contest is celebrating its 40th edition and is seeking contestants of all ages. The Beard Growing Contest is still accepting bearded participants for the Voyageur (wild and wooly) and Novelty (groomed mustache and/or beard) categories. The Pea Soup Competition is accepting applications from restaurants to participate in an event that seeks to find Winnipeg’s best pea soup as voted by the public. The Mascot Challenge is also looking for mascots ready to take on the challenge. For more information or to register, visit FestivalVoyageur.mb.ca or call (204) 237-7692.

Tickets are also now on sale for Bal du Gouverneur, Festival du Voyageur’s most prestigious evening at the Fairmont Hotel on February 19. Table reservations can be made by calling the Festival office at the number above.

The 42nd Festival du Voyageur runs February 18 to 27.
