Newcomers to Winnipeg will learn to skate thanks to an initiative by the Mosaic Newcomer Family Resource Network (MNFRN).
Every Friday this winter, the MNFRN will hold free skating lessons as part of the Newcomer Skating Program.
The program launches today at Central Park and will run from 1-3 p.m. each Friday until March (weather permitting).
Participants will be offered free skates, helmets, childcare, snacks and bus tickets.
Space is limited, so people are encouraged to register quickly.
Funding for the program was made through a partnership with numerous downtown organizations, as well as Knox United Church and the Province of Manitoba.
